iTunes 4.5 Tips
There have been a few writeups of iTunes 4.5 around the blogosphere this week. I think I’ve found Erik Barzeski‘s the most useful. Why so useful, you might ask. Simple — because Erik reveals where the temporary files generated by the QuickTime plugin are stored: /tmp/501/TemporaryItems/QT…
I’ve been wondering about this for a while (though never seriously enough to try Googling it). Now I can once again save movie trailers and various other sundry movies from across the Internet.
Also, in a later post, Erik points towards instructions for making the new arrows in iTunes take you to your own browser instead of the iTMS. In either case, you can temporarily toggle the behavior by option-clicking the arrow.
defaults write com.apple.iTunes invertStoreLinks -bool YES

Note that the 501 is your user id. It may be a different location if you’re not the first/primary user.

the path should be the same for everyone with only one possible difference….different users may have a different number in that path, i.e. 502, 503, etc.
