My plan is to eventually purchase a Canon EOS-10D (or whatever replaces it), but I also wanted a nice, inexpensive camera now to document my move to California, so I bought a $300 Canon PowerShot A70. Something about that camera just feels good to me--the ergonomics, the interface, the metal case (as opposed to the cheesy plastic Nikon has moved to). It also seems to me that it does a decent job in low light, which is more than I can say for most digicams (although I have to admit my evidence of that is strictly anecdotal).
